Track List: Sample MP3 - $1

Six Two Eight

This is a track that's based on a song I used to play in an original rock band... it's a very cool 6/8 groove with some "Police" influence. It features Allen Hinds on Guitar and Mike Ricchiuti on Piano

MamaJam

This is a driving fast groove which came from Michael Ripoll who helped produce this project. He plays great rhythm guitar on this track which also features Smitty Smith, Allen Hinds, Roinnie Guttierrez and Mike Ricchiuti.

Traincars

Oddly enough, this track was inspired by my own website. I found a great Traincars sound and used it on my "design" website: www.hooper.com. We turned it into a tune and added drums and guitar (Allen Hinds).

Blastix

I played "Blastix" on this track... they are drumsticks made out of plastic strands and sound similar to brushes... they add a different sound to the drums which you'll hear. There's some great solos and sounds from Allen Hinds and Mike Ricchiuti.

Pong

This track is in 15/8. The title came about as we were listening to the track, it reminded us of the old "pong" video game. Lots of drum soloing on this one and some really quirky guitar from Allen Hinds. My brother Tommy played bass on this one.

Git Outta Town

Andre Barry gave me this track to play on.... it was just a rough sketch which I finished with some drum breakdowns and added guitar and piano from Allen Hinds and Mike Ricchiuti.

Modal Miles

This is a track I played on during a jingle session.  The track was not used for the jingle, and it was something we played in between takes.  It features Wallace Roney and Herbie Hancock on a great Miles Davis like jam.  Tom Warrington plays acoustic bass.

Allen DAVE HOOPER

http://drums.hooper.com

Dave started as the voice of "The Little Green Sprout" from the Jolly Green Giant Commercials.

He used to go to work with his dad, who writes music for TV commercials. When his voice changed, and he realized he couldn't sing, Dave decided he had to take up an instrument. Drums seemed like the right instrument to torment his parents with.

Dave attended North Texas State University for 2 years, and then realized college was for sissies. Not really. He studied with Peter Erskine, Gregg Bissonette, Steve Houghton, Joe Porcaro, David Garibaldi, Tom Brechtlein, and spent many hours jamming in his garage with roommate, Gary Novak.

Dave's Dad couldn't wait to use him as a drummer on his commercials, so at the age of 17, Dave began his studio drumming career.

Some of his career's highlights have been working with Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow, Lee Ritenour, The Rippingtons, David Byrne, Warren Hill, Joe Sample, The Manhattan Transfer, Chaka Kahn, Jeff Kashiwa, Jeff Golub, Wayman Tisdale, Mindi Abair, Slim Man, Chuck Loeb, Euge Groove, John Tesh, Paul Brown, Boney James, Dave Koz, Max Bennett, Marc Antoine, Rick Braun, Peter White, Brian Hughes, Michael Paulo, Eric Benet, George Duke, Chieli Minucci, Jonathan Butler, Don Grusin, Craig Chaquico, Kirk Whalum, Doc Powell, Wallace Roney, Russell Ferante, David Benoit, Dan Siegel, and James Ingram.
